When a medication is flagged in the "standard precautions" section of your results, that medication can be expected to at least be effective and have typical side effects. The reality is that side effects can occur when taking any medication. With testing, you are getting insights regarding the efficacy and likeliness of side effects based on your DNA.

Most insurance companies do not cover broad pharmacogenomic testing. They may cover a single gene for medications that require testing before initiating therapy. Call your insurance company to verify coverage.

No, but if you provider recommends you get testing, they can always fill out an order form. If you plan to submit the test for insurance reimbursement, you would need a provider order.
